The history of the mural paintings from the churches of Santa Coloma and Sant Esteve in Andorra la Vella illustrate how the historical circumstances of the end of the late 19th and early 20th century allowed them to be detached, split, sold and scattered in various public and private collections. They were not the only ones to suffer these journeys, but they did return to the country, at least partially. Those in Santa Coloma were recovered in 2007 by the Government of Andorra and, in 2019, located in the Espai Columba. As for those of Sant Esteve d'Andorra la Vella, in 2024 the Government recovered two fragments.
You will find here additional information to learn more about these fascinating journeys.
