After World War Two, France tried to acquire Radio Andorra, the Spanish radio station that broadcast from Encamp, but after two decades of the radio war, the French decided to create their own station. The great building of Sud Radio, a behemoth equipped with the most cutting-edge technology, was inaugurated in 1964 and was active until 1981, when the Consell General decided to revoke all radiophonic licenses. Sud Radio moved to Toulouse, and the building has been unused ever since.
