The church of Sant Joan de Caselles is among those that have best preserved their Romanesque origins. This temple, built between the 11th and 12th centuries, follows the characteristic architectural structure of Andorran Romanesque churches: a rectangular nave with a wooden ceiling, a semi-circular apse and a Lombard bell tower. It also features two porches from the 15th and 16th centuries. Inside, you’ll find the remains of a stucco Romanesque Christ in Majesty from the 12th century, and the high-quality altarpiece, dating from 1527 and featuring influences from the Italian and German renaissance.
