The current church, renovated in the 1970s, was built on top of a medieval construction, which was modified in the 17th century and underwent further renovations in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Throughout the centuries, it has been the house of the patron saint of Sant Julià de Lòria: Our Lady of Canòlich, a 12th-century image currently located inside the parochial church of Sant Julià de Lòria.
